Paul Beasley has been in the building industry, literally, his whole life. Paul’s father was a builder and in the construction industry his entire career and Paul followed his dad’s lead by jumping into the building material industry right out of college and has never left the business since. Paul was the General Manager of National Accounts for a major Building Material company for over 20 years managing the following clients: Home Depot, ProBuild, Alpine Lumber and BMC.

A couple of years ago Paul along with his wife Jackie made the move to beautiful Durango from the Front Range of Colorado and purchased Tile & Light Art of Durango. The transition to Durango has been terrific for the Beasley’s and they love helping homeowner’s put their dreams for a beautiful homes into reality. Both Paul & Jackie are very involved with their daughters Emma (23) & Jillian (19) and enjoy spending their leisure time hiking, biking, skiing and numerous volunteer efforts such as the Navajo Solar Light Project.

Ryan and his wife moved to Durango in December of 2012 to pursue their love of the outdoors. Ryan is a graduate of Oklahoma State University with a degree in Construction Management. He is an avid fan of his OSU Cowboys. Ryan is a Project Manager at Kogan Builders. Ryan has a passion for construction, especially working closely with each client to ensure the best possible experience with their individual design and build.

Kathy Burgess,

Kathy Burgess has recently retired from First National Bank of Durango as a Vice President, Construction Lending Manager for nearly 22 years.  She has represented First National Bank as a Charter member of Home Builders Association of Southwest Colorado and has been involved on the Board of Directors for several terms since the inception of the organization.  Burgess is now part of the design and development of Tree House Renovations. Burgess was also a board member for Habitat for Humanity during its infancy and is currently involved with the La Plata County Cattlemen’s and Cowbells’ Associations. Her greatest love is for her family and home where she and her husband raise Hereford beef cattle.

Elise is originally from Kansas City, “Go Royals!”  She moved to Durango with her husband and two 95 and 125 pound puppies in 2012. When asked what most people in the membership don’t know about her, Elise replied told us this:  “In my earlier years, I was a serious ballet dancer and percussionist, and even studied percussion in college at Kansas State University. I can’t seem to shake either of those things, because I am now a member of the music education committee for Music in the Mountains, a member of the Southwest Civic Winds and help out with the new San Juan Ballet School.”  In her “spare time,” Elise is also the Treasurer of the Young Professionals of Durango (“YPODS”), a 2014-2015 Leadership La Plata alumni, is a veteran Parade of Homes committee member, and recently was voted in as the new Secretary for the Home Builder Association of Southwest Colorado’s Board, which is an Executive Committee position.  Elise noted that the Parade is her all-time favorite event of the year, and understandably so!

Jacob is originally from Indiana and moved to SW Colorado 10 years ago as a financial adviser with Raymond James Financial.  It took less than 2 months of Colorado sunshine until his reverence for the outdoors pushed him to change career paths.  He has since become focused on current building science strategies and the use of renewable energy sources as it relates to economically built commercial and residential structures.  Jacobs company, Durango Green Homes, offers design, build, and consulting services throughout the Southwest.  He is a DOE Zero Energy Ready Home partner and a certified Passive House Builder through the Passive House Institute US.

If you catch Jacob outside of work he will most likely be spending time with his wife and three children biking, hiking, or skiing our vast rocky mountain playground.  He feels very fortunate to be on the board of directors and is optimistic that his mindset for sustainability in the construction industry can be beneficial.

Steve Martin, Edgewood ConstructionDirector

Steve Martin is a transplant from Vermont to Durango in 1991, after graduating college, an easy choice after experiencing the west’s clear blue skies, fresh powder, and towering mountains.  Martin has been instrumental in growing Durango’s Youth Ice Hockey program, having volunteered to serve on the Board and coaching for 17 years. When not on the ice, he also enjoys mountain biking, skiing, and paddle boarding but above all, hanging out with his wife, Aimee, and their two children, Sara, 20, and Tim, 18.

Martin and his business partner, Mike Parker, founded Edgewood Construction, LLC in 2006. Previously, he was a project manager with Tom Gorton Construction, building quality homes in Northern La Plata County since 1993.  Martin has forged endless valuable relationships with the building community, and is honored to serve on the Board of Directors of the Home Builders Association of Southwest Colorado.

Roger graduated from Fort Lewis College, and starting his career at Southwest Appliance in 1981. He purchased the business in 2004, and now runs it alongside family and long-time employees. Roger has two sons, Zach (who also works at Southwest Appliance), and Kyle, and a wonderful wife of 30 years, Christine. 

Grant Siggins, Siggins ConstructionDirector

Grant began his career in construction as an estimator and project manager for a commercial general contractor in Mid-Michigan. He moved to Durango in 2010 and began the transition to the residential construction arena. In 2013, he started his own company focusing on new construction, remodels, and light commercial projects. Grant has an Associate's degree in architectural technology, a Bachelor's in construction management, and a Master's in business administration. Grant also serves on the Parade of Homes committee, the membership committee for the Pope & Young Club, and is the Southwest Region Director for the Colorado Bowhunter's Association. When he's not working, he can be found hunting or fishing wih his wife, Lanny, riding a mountiain bike or motorcycle, or playing hockey.

Bill is the Sales Manager of Lewis Mercantile, in Bayfield, CO.  He is one of the founding members of the HBASC back in 1996, and has served on the board for several years.  He has 40 years’ experience in the construction industry, and is a well-known leader on the Annual Jim Dixon Golf Tournament Committee at the Glacier Club.

Bob Smith is owner of Buena Vista Builders, Inc., which is located at 799 E. 3rd Street, Suite 4 in Durango. Bob Smith has been in the building and construction industry for 35 years. Several of Bob’s particular trade skills include carpentry and framing. Bob has a Business Management Degree from the University of Phoenix. Bob was a builder in California for several years before moving to Durango in 1992. Buena Vista Builders, specializes in custom homes, multi-family, remodels, additions, and commercial construction. Bob enjoys the outdoors and traveling – mostly within the country, but does enjoy his trips to Mexico. Swing by Buena Vista Builders’ office to visit with Bob about your next building project, and be prepared to be greeted by his two Schnauzers, Pepper and Loki.

Steve has lived in Colorado 23 years and moved to Durango from Denver in 2011. Having worked for a family-owned business, he learned the valuable principles of small business ownership and management. Following college he began a career in the tile and stone industry, first in installation and later in sales; followed by branch-management of a large western states' wholesale stone and slab distributor. Steve's experience in business management, finance, and construction help him as a construction lender, and he became involved with the Home Builders Association of SW CO two years ago.
