Looking Forward to the Parade of Homes
We could not be more excited about this year’s Parade of Homes in September! If you’re a builder in Archuleta County or La Plata County, or if you’re in a related trade, plan to enter one of your projects now.
It goes without saying that we’re coming out of a challenging period for people in construction in Southwest Colorado, plus, well, everyone we can think of. Since we were unable to have an in-person tour last year, we’ve used the extra time to design more features into this fall’s experience to increase enjoyment and accessibility for visitors and multiply benefits for HBASC members.
What’s New this Year
Parade of Homes enhancements that add significant value to this much anticipated event include:
A two-county celebration
For the first time, the Parade of Homes will be held in both Archuleta and La Plata Counties. In Archuleta County the dates are September 16th – 19th; La Plata County’s event will be the following weekend, September 23rd – 26th. Because visitor tickets are good for both weekends, more people than ever will have the opportunity to get inspired by projects from HBASC members.
More days and venues
We’ve expanded the hours and venues across four days and evenings in each county. People will have more options for exploring new single-family homes and units, extensive remodels, commercial builds and special projects while observing health guidelines.
The virtual tour
To complement the live opportunities, the HBASC will host a virtual tour of all entries on our website. Those who are unable to visit your project in-person will have the chance to view it online after the live tour, and see it as many times as they like throughout the year. You can also use the virtual tour in your own marketing efforts.
The Parade App
All homes, subcontractor members, and sponsors will be listed on the Parade of Homes app with a hyperlink and logo bringing that many more qualified leads directly to you! Subcontractors who are not active members of the HBASC may pay a one-time fee for this service and the opportunity to actively market themselves in the homes during the parade.
Support for our local restaurants
The HBASC will be allotting $500 to each entry to help with the catering efforts for our Friday evenings’ event- Homes Under the Stars. We want to help rebuild our community as much as help build our future together with these relationships.

If you already belong to the HBASC, you’re well acquainted with the benefits the Parade of Homes brings builders, architects, Realtors and associate members who participate. If you’re a home builder in Archuleta County, where our coverage is more recent, you may not have this familiarity.
Here’s why you should join the HBASC today and submit an entry for the Parade of Homes:
- You’ll get a full-page display for your entry in the Parade of Homes magazine, a publication that tends to have a long life with potential clients.
- The HBASC will publish information about your company online, with links to your website and social media outlets.
- You’ll be included in our expansive multi-media campaign, with ads running in print, on the radio and online.
- Winners enjoy tremendous recognition across the Four Corners area, far beyond what we do on the HBASC website.
Embracing the Building Industry in Southwest Colorado
We’ve developed this year’s Parade of Homes event to span the industry. There are ways for subcontractors to participate—contact us for information. Members of the HBASC who don’t have an entry this time can advertise in the magazine, or better yet, sponsor the event for added marketing value and exposure. We’re actively seeking volunteers to help staff the two weekends as well—it’s a great way to learn more about the event, and volunteers receive one free ticket for their time.
Proceeds also support construction in the Four Corners, assisting us in our mission to grow the pipeline of young, skilled workers joining the trades. We use Parade of Homes funds for our “Building the Future” scholarship for college-bound industry professionals, and for our “Tool Up” awards for young people joining the industry right out of high school.

If you’re not already an HBASC member, you should know that the opportunity to participate in the Parade of Homes is just one benefit we offer. When you join, you’ll have access to networking events and member-to-member discounts. We’ll provide industry updates, local educational forums and representation for your concerns with legislative bodies at all levels. And, through your HBASC membership you’re automatically enrolled with the Colorado Association of Homebuilders and the National Association of Home Builders, giving you access to classes to extend your skills and amplifying your voice in government affairs.
